Richard Leo Lilly, 74, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at his home.

He was born November 2, 1941, in Sedalia, son of Oliver and Imogene Lane Lilly.

Richard graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1960.

On November 1, 1963, in Otterville, he was united in marriage to Joyce Sanders.

Richard worked as a fireman for the Sedalia Fire Department, retiring in 2006 after 40 years of service. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, arrowhead hunting, family gatherings and going to the lake.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, VFW and West Central Archaeological Society.

Richard served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, where he served on the aircraft carrier, USS Midway.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Debbie Skouby (Ken), of Holts Summit, David Lilly (Maryann), of Florence, and Tammie Pachuta, of Warrensburg; seven grandchildren, Sydney, Sarah, Eric, Sabrina, Jessica, Devin and Brandin; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Nick Franklin, of Sedalia; and one sister, Jeanie Mosier, of Sedalia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Perry Franklin; three brothers, Jay Lilly, Tommy Lilly and Clinton Franklin; a grandson, Nathan Maxwell; and a nephew, Eddie Mosier.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jon Church officiating.
Casket bearers will be Brit Streebin, Eric Lilly and members of the Sedalia Fire Department.

Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens, with military honors by the U.S. Navy and VFW Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
