SFCC missed a golden opportunity to get on the scoreboard in the first half with a penalty kick.

Iowa Central scored with a little more than 19 minutes remaining in the opening half. The goal was the first allowed by the Roadrunners this season.

Iowa Central scored again inside the 31-minute mark of the second half to make the score 2-0. SFCC fought back to make the score 2-1 courtesy of a goal from freshman defender Alois Buchillet, with less than three minutes remaining in the second half. The goal was his first as a Roadrunner.

Freshman midfielder Vasbert Ledger got the assist. Iowa Central put the game away on a goal scored with about a minute and 45 seconds left in the game.

Freshman forward Lesia Thetsane and Ledger led the team in shots with two each. Freshman goalkeeper Landon Dove and sophomore goalkeeper Reece Gabbert each played a half in goal for SFCC. Dove made two saves and Gabbert made three saves.

"We need to do a better job of taking advantage of our goal-scoring opportunities," said head coach Jaime Beltran.

The Roadrunners record currently stands at 2-1 on the season.
