The State Fair Community College Roadrunners continued their winning streak with a three-game stretch of wins Nov. 14, 17 and 18 at home. The following are wrap-ups of each game.

Nov.14, Central Methodist University JV at Sedalia

The Roadrunners extended their winning streak to four games with a 91-36 victory over Central Methodist University Eagles JV. SFCC jumped out to a 14-0 lead with about 15 minutes remaining in the opening half.

"Tonight we played better because when we got the lead, we were able to extend it," said Head Coach Matt Brown.

The Roadrunners led 36-9 at halftime.

Sophomore guard Grant Gelon led three Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 20 points. He knocked down seven of nine shots from the field and six three-point shots. Freshman guard/forward Caleb Coleman and freshman guard Tyreek Scott-Grayson scored 18 points each. Coleman led in rebounds with seven. Sophomore guard Andre (A.J.) Walker dished out a team-high 11 assists. Sophomore center Isaac Bassey led in blocked shots with four. Walker, Scott-Grayson and freshman guard Christian Brown tied for the team lead in steals with three each.

"We were able to get different combinations on the floor tonight," said Brown. "We played some zone defense and some man-to-man defense. This was a good game."

 

Nov.17, Westminster College JV at Sedalia

The Roadrunners opened the Stone Laser Imaging Classic with a 92-64 victory over the Westminster College Blue Jays JV.

Roadrunners led 29-17 with about six minutes, 30 seconds remaining in the first half and pushed the advantage to 44-28 at halftime. Coach Brown was pleased with his team's effort.

"We had five guys in double figures," said Brown. "We had 23 assists and only 11 turnovers, but we need to continue to improve at the free-throw line."

Gelon led the Roadrunners in scoring with 16 points. Walker contributed a double-double with 14 points, a team-high 10 assists and three steals. Freshman guard Tim Leavell pitched in 13 points; Coleman added 12. Freshman guard/forward LePear Toles collected a team-high 10 rebounds.

 

Nov. 18, Link Year Prep at Sedalia

The Roadrunners closed out the Stone Laser Imaging Classic with an 84-76 victory over the Link Year Prep Lions even though SFCC found itself in an early 10-0 hole.

At halftime, the Roadrunners led 39-35 and outscored Link Year Prep 45-41 in the second half to secure the victory.

"We started driving the ball to the basket and didn't settle for three-point shots," said Brown. "Our defense also improved in the second half."

Gelon led four Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 20 points. Walker contributed a triple-double with 16 points, a team-high 10 rebounds and 14 assists. Toles and Scott-Grayson pitched in 12 points each. The Roadrunners record currently stands at 6-0.

SFCC opens Missouri Community College Athletic Conference play against the St. Louis Community College Archers at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the Davis Center.
