Robert Dale Smith, 78

Robert Dale Smith, 78, of Sedalia passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia.  He was born on January 31, 1937 in Mountain View, MO the son of Ferrel Amos and Ethel (Green) Smith, who preceded him in death.

Robert and Dixie Jane (Hart) began dating when Dixie was just 16 years old.  He joined the US Army on May 18, 1955 and served his country honorably until 1957. They were sweethearts for all those years, and confirmed their matrimony on October 22, 1982. Dixie survives of the home in Sedalia.

Besides his wife he is survived by five children, Ricky Smith, Penny Haney, Todd Smith, all of Kansas City, MO, Larry Smith of Cameron, MO and Sherry Goosen of Smithton, MO; four brothers, Otha, Roger, Gary and Cecil Smith; five sisters, Naomi Collins, Sissy Singleton, JoAnn Singleton, Donna Mason and Joyce Smith; 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Margaruite Smith Edwards; brothers, Junior Edgar Green, Frankie Smith and one at infancy; sisters, Linda Smith Colter and one at infancy.

Before Roberts wishes for cremation, the family held a private viewing at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 16, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Church of God of Prophecy in Birch Tree, MO (Hwy 99).
