Robert Joseph Bahner, 68

Robert Joseph Bahner, 68, of Sedalia, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at University Hospital in Columbia.
He was born December 4, 1945, in Sedalia, a son of the late Charles J. and Rose Adaline (Weller) Bahner. On June 22, 1968, at St. Patrick Church, Sedalia, he married Pamela Lee Kanenbley, who survives of the home.

He attended St. Patrick School and Sacred Heart High School where he received awards in Math and Algebra. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Mr. Bahner served his country honorably in the US Army from 1965-1967 where he received training as a heavy duty truck and diesel mechanic. He began his career as a Marmon truck dealer; then helped build TransCentral Suppliers. He was an honest man and treated his employees and customers like he liked to be treated. He mentored shop foremen from 48 different states and always had the reputation for being able to solve mechanical problems. He lived his life serving and helping others, never turning away those seeking guidance. He was a terrific role model for all who encountered him and lived his life with unparalleled integrity. He was a dedicated husband for over 46 years, father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and was an animated storyteller.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sandy Ackmann (Timothy), of St. Louis, and Mandy Havnen (Ray), of Warrensburg; two brothers, Charles Bahner (Pat), of Smithton, and David Bahner (Beth), of Lee’s Summit; four sisters, Lillian Rehmer (Rudy), of Smithton, Ida Mae Woolery, of Sedalia, Eileen Kitzmiller (Pete), of Dunedin, FL, and Mary Arnett (Carl, Jr.), of LaMonte; and four grandchildren, Whitney, Chase, Nathan and Alyssa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Jones.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Sacred Heart Church with Father Mark Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Rick St. Cyr, Jeff Rehmer, Gene Arnett, Doug Arnett, Dale Bahner and Matt Bahner. Honorary pallbearer will be Jennifer Rehmer. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Bahner. Full military honors will be conducted at graveside.

Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 6 pm, Monday, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with visitation to follow until 8 pm.
