Robert L. Eschbacher, 82, of Sedalia, died Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

He was born October 3, 1931, in Sedalia, a son of the late Theodore and Loreene (Bohm) Eschbacher.

He attended Sacred Heart School and was Valedictorian of the Class of 1949. He was a Holy Cross Seminarian at Notre Dame University where he received his undergraduate degree. He went on to receive a master’s degree in English Literature from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. He taught English Literature at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ until retirement. Years later he returned to Sedalia to be near his family.

He was predeceased by two brothers, William J. and James L. Eschbacher, of Sedalia.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Helen Eschbacher and LouAnn Eschbacher, both of Sedalia. He is also survived by five nieces and three nephews.

It was Robert’s wishes to gift his body to the University of Missouri for the use of education and science.

Prayers of the rosary will begin at 4 pm, Monday, November 4, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church immediately followed by a Memorial Mass with Father Mark Miller presiding.
