Robert Wayne Hassler, 64, of Jefferson City, formerly of Otterville, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at his home. He was born on February 14, 1950, in Sedalia a son of Arnold and Sylvia (Todd) Hassler. On September 26, 1970, in Otterville, MO, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Griffith, who survives of the home.

Wayne loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed working at his shop and loved his customers and friends. He especially enjoyed having coffee with the guys. Wayne liked to fish and to be outdoors. He loved to read and to watch programs about history. Although he had traveled the world, he especially loved rural Missouri and liked to visit small Missouri towns and communities.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Robin Stoll (Darin) of Smithton, Stephen Hassler, of Jefferson City and Katie Brown (Justin), of Florence; eight grandchildren, Mason, Gavin, Conner, Aubrey, Megan, Trenton, Lily, and Violet; six sisters, Myrna Swafford and Joyce Dimas, both of Lee’s Summit, MO, Rhonda Weathers (Jim), of Eugene, MO, Phyllis Sheridan (Don) of Bunceton, MO, Brenda Perkins (David) of Holts Summit, MO and Sandrea Tart of Jefferson City, MO; one brother, Don Hassler (Diane) of Wellington, NC.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Pamela Gonzales and one brother, Arnold Hassler, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lowell Perkins officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday, at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2591 conducting full military honors at the gravesite.

Pallbearers will be Chris Bishop, Eric Bishop, Maurice Whitson, David Layne, A.J. Dimas and Cletus Tagtmeyer.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Truman VA Medical Center, Columbia, in care of the funeral chapel.
