Robert Woolery Pow Wow Brings History to Missouri State Fairgrounds

Pow Wow GirlLast weekend, the annual Woolery Pow Wow was held at the Agriculture Building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds.  We have a lot of Native American history and lineage in our area, and it means a lot to so many people.

The Native American Community came together and really showed us the best of all the different facets of life. They had Indian Fry Bread, Indian Tacos, Indian Hot Dogs and Hamburgers. They had several different vendors in and outside, and in the center of the buildings were the main singers. There was some great singing and dancing – and after all, Native dance is itself a form of knowledge and history.

All sorts of people were there from all different ages and backgrounds. There was a lot to see and do for whole event, and so many very sweet and talented people.  I saw all sorts of great crafts, art and clothing. And one of the best parts was, admission and parking were free!

We had a nice, cool building and decent weather outside (there was a little rain, but it didn’t dampen anyone’s mood).  Here are some photos from the event.

It was brought to you by the Native American Council for Cultural Awareness. You can find out more by finding them on Facebook.

I took a little video, too!

Historically yours,
Behka
