Ronald H. Hughes, 72, of Sedalia, returned to be with our heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 having passed away at home with his family by his side. He was born November 28, 1940, in Sedalia, the son of the late Archie and Irene Hughes-Dierkens. Ronald and Joyce Ann Herd were united in marriage on July 9, 1971 and they celebrated 42 years together.

Ronald attended Smith-Cotton High School. He was employed by several businesses in Sedalia and the surrounding area, but made a life-long career with the 7Up Company, in which he became the owner of and later sold this company to Mid Continent Bottlers. Ronald retired in 2000. He had a passion for CB radios, in which he spent a lot of time talking to friends. He was a member of the Sedalia Gun Club. Ronald attended the First Assembly of God Church.

Ronald is survived by his wife, who resides in the home; his son, Rocky Hughes and his wife, Phelessia, of Sedalia; 2 step children, Kim Wiley and David Campbell, of Higginsville; several grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ramona (Maier) King and her husband Stanley, of Independence, MO and Brenda Green, of Sedalia; 1 niece and 3 nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00PM, Friday, August 2, 2013 at Crown Hill Cemetery with Rev. Randy May officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Ronald's family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Hospice in care of Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home.
