Sedalia's Rose M. Nolen Black History Library is hosting a "Getting to Know You" Sunday afternoon conversation at the library on April 2.

"It is a very special event," said Marge Harlan. "We're trying to get blacks and whites together to talk, just as friends. It's a broad discussion about race, and how we can come together as one community, no matter what your skin color is."

The Rose M. Nolen Black History Library is at 109 Lima Alley in Sedalia, two blocks North of the railroad track on Ohio. Sunday's discussion will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Harlan says there are about 2,000 volumes in the Rose M. Nolen Black History Library, and numerous displays: "I'm working on a display of the Civil War...we have all types of displays." Library hours are from 10 - 3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or by appointment.
