Roy Thomas Cooke, Jr., 64, of Owasso, OK formerly of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Hospital, Muskogee, OK. He was born on September 23, 1948 in Kansas City, MO, a son of Roy Thomas Cooke, Sr. and Elsie Kathryn Gunter, who preceded him in death.

On October 20, 1974, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Diane Linville, who survives of the home.

He worked in Sedalia at Comtech Services as a Chief Technician and retired in June of 2012.  He could build and fix anything from wood to electrical.  Roy enjoyed deer hunting, shooting bow and arrows and spending time with his daughters, son-in-law and grandson.  He served his country honorably in the US Army, Vietnam as a Paratrooper, 101st Airborne.  Roy was a member of First United Methodist Church, Owasso, OK and the VFW #2591, Sedalia.

He is survived by two daughters, Laura Cooke of O’Fallon, MO and Emily (Tom) Mortimer of Owasso, OK; one grandson, Landon Mortimer; two sisters, Sandy (John) Fairweather of Warsaw, MO and Betty (John) Percival of Conway, MO; and one brother, Don Cooke of Goodson, MO.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Cheryl Simmons; sister-in-law, Kathy Cooke; and one nephew.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Rev. Rick Adams officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW #2591.

Pallbearers will be Tom Mortimer, Jeff Randol, Doug Randol, Donnie Cooke, John Fairweather, and John Percival.  Honorary bearers will be John Lopez, Bob Judson, Mark Randol and Kim Dabner.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The American Cancer Society in care of the funeral chapel.
