What a great night of entertainment at the Liberty Center on Saturday night (Nov. 10)! Taking center stage with his band was Royal Wade Kimes. Kimes has worked with some of the biggest names in country entertainment, including Loretta Lynn and Garth Brooks (Kimes helped write, "We Bury the Hatchet" which sold 17 million copies). Other giants he has worked with include Diamond Rio, Gene Watson and several others. He at one time signed with Asylum Records, where he had a top 10 dance record as well as a top video. The "Nashville Outlaw" has two Will Rogers awards and has been named the Best Living Solo Musician and Best Album of the Year from True West Magazine and XM Satellite Radio.

Some of the songs played Saturday night included Barbara Hayden's (Starline Brass) favorite, "Another Man's Sky," plus some of his hits,"Ponies" and "Lonsome Cowboy." He played the song that he co-wrote with Garth Brooks, "We Bury the Hatchet," "Make the World Go Away" by Eddy Arnold, "Knocking on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan and "White Sports Coat by Marty Robbins. To close the evening off, he played "In My Time." During the show, he enticed some ladies in the front row with his charm for a dance.

The second half of the show, Wade played with Special Guest Michael Black, who performed with The Jordanaires. Many of you may know that name as the backup singers to Elvis Presley. The rest of the band included Larry Crowley and his son Ryan Crowley, Matt McDowell and husband and wife team Lori Canaan and Doug Corbin, and of course, Royal Wade Kimes singing lead.

The concert was held for veterans, who received free admission. Wade played for around 150-200 people last night. At the end of the show, Wade took the time out to sign autographs, take photos and visit with fans and veterans.

The concert's sponsors for the veterans tickets were Lamm Tech, Bryant Motor Co., Ed and Judy Watkins, Consulting, Kehde's BBQ, Chelsea's Antiques and Starline Brass.
