After operating since 1996, the doors of the Sedalia Ryan's on West Broadway have been closed.  The workers' final day was on June 12.

There is no official word on why Ryan's buffet has shut down.  In an email to the Sedalia Democrat, spokeswoman for Buffet Inc. Mellisa Sheer suggested that the restaurant was not performing as well as other Ryan's locations.  A sign posted on the front entrance of the West Broadway restaurant stated, "This location has permanently closed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we sincerely appreciate your patronage over the years."

As I drove up to Ryan's, there were some patrons that pulled up, got out and tried to open the doors.  After they read the sign, they said they couldn't believe it.  Others said they frequented the restaurant once or twice a week and enjoyed the food.

In January, it was reported that Ryan's filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and would close 81 stores across the country.  It appears several in Missouri fell victim to this, and many of the restaraunts closed without any farewell for the public or its employees.
