Smith-Cotton girls tennis lost, 1-8, Wednesday at Waynesville.

No. 1 singles player Caroline Matz had the Lady Tigers' lone win, but Maria Aonzo (No. 3 singles) and Elissa Petrashishina (No. 4 singles) both went to tie-breakers before losing, as did the No. 2 doubles team of Petrashishina and Jessica Kotok.

Coach Christine Nierman said, "It was a much closer match than the end result shows."

S-C, 1-3, was scheduled to play St. Michael the Archangel Thursday at home.
