Sacred Heart elementary students recently raised money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with a Math-A-Thon.

With a goal of raising $6,000 this year, 89 students participated in the Math-A-Thon, to raise $12,345.31 --- all of which goes directly to St. Jude.

According to Sacred Heart School, the students have participated in the Math-A-Thon fundraiser since 1987. In that time, students have raised over $155,000 for the children at St. Jude battling cancer and other terminal diseases.

Participants of the Math-A-Thon received a Funbook filled with math problems to complete. They also found family and friends to sponsor their participation in the program.

St. Jude rewarded the students with T-shirts and prizes depending on the amount of money raised through the fundraising effort. In the interest of securing additional revenue for St. Jude, 20 students opted out of receiving their prizes. The school also earned a Go-Pro that will be used for STEM classes next year.
