Samuel Stephen Potter, Sr., 96, of Sedalia, formerly of Otterville, passed away Friday evening, April 10, 2015, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

He was born June 24, 1918, in Morgan County, son of Jabe Hubbard and Mary Elizabeth Weaver Potter.

Mr. Potter was a farmer and drove a school bus for Otterville School for many years. He was a member of the Otterville Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and looking for civil war artifacts.

Surviving are two sons, Raymond G. "Gary" Potter and wife, Dian, and William G. Potter, all of Otterville; 10 grandchildren;  27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Samuel S. "Steve" Potter, Jr., and John H. Potter; a daughter, Caroline E. Ingram; a brother, Joe Potter; and two sisters, Dorothy G. Clark and Ada Sue Potter.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Campbell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Private burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Otterville.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Otterville Methodist Church.
