Second Ward Councilwoman Wanda Monsees Resigns Amid Medical Concerns
Mayor Stephen Galliher reluctantly accepted the resignation of Wanda Monsees from her position as Second Ward Councilwoman on Tuesday (May 6) due to medical concerns.
Monsees’ resignation arrives just weeks after her ward reaffirmed their confidence in her abilities by reelecting her unchallenged to the Sedalia City Council on April 8.
“While I fully understand and support Councilwoman Monsees’ decision,” said Mayor Galliher, “her influence will be greatly missed by those she has served in the Second Ward and everyone in the Sedalia community.”
Ms. Monsees was first elected to the Sedalia City Council in April 2009. Mayor Stephen Galliher, the Sedalia City Council and City of Sedalia staff wish Ms. Monsees the very best and thank her for her dedicated service.
