Early Monday morning (Oct 22), Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 600 block of S. Barrett Ave for a reported disturbance. Upon contact, a victim stated the suspect was threatening their lives and physically held a female against a wall and sprayed another victim with pepper spray. The suspect, 45-year old Gerald L. Rachilla, of Sedalia, was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, pending the filing of state charge for 3rd Degree Domestic Assault.


On Saturday (Oct 20), Sedalia Police say a subject attempted to open and get into a patrol car while an officer was working a motor vehicle accident at W. 4th and S. Limit Ave. The suspect, 50-year old Jade A. Downey, of Sedalia, was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail on a state felony charge of 2nd Degree Tampering with a Motor Vehicle.


On Monday (Oct 22), Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Stephenson Ave for a possible burglary in progress. Residents reportedly thought they heard someone walking in the house and had seen flashlights in the area. Nobody was located residence but the police report indicates the caller complained of hearing a loud noise earlier at the front window. In checking the residence, it was determined that someone had thrown about a dozen eggs at the front of the house and one of eggs struck the front window. A small Halloween decoration was also broken. At this time, there is no suspect information.


Around 11:00 Friday morning (Oct 19), Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 300 block of W. 7th Street in regards to a vehicle theft. The caller stated a 2004 Ford Freestar van that belonged to a business had been stolen early that morning by a man staying at the facility. According to the police report, the suspect had gathered clothes and other items and was seen on video taking the van from the front street of the business. The van is valued at approximately $1,500.00. No suspect information was available in the report.


On Monday (Oct 22), Pettis County deputies took a report in reference to a motor vehicle and property theft that occurred near a barn in the area of Reid Road and Hwy CC. The complainant stated that a utility vehicle and trailer had been stolen, along with chain saws and bicycles. The estimated value has not yet been determined and the investigation is ongoing. There was no suspect information available in the report.
