Sedalia Police officers were dispatched to Wood's grocery store, at 701 East Broadway, around 6:00 Wednesday evening (Mar 15) in reference to a disturbance. Officers were told that an intoxicated man had left the store and was walking with a young child. Officers eventually located the man, identified as 44-year-old Virgil A. Edgar, walking in the area of 5th Street and South Marvin Avenue. A child and a dog were with him. According to the report, officers attempted to issue Edgar a trespass notice, but he began yelling at the child in an aggressive manner. The report says it appeared he was going to cause physical harm to the child. While officers attempted to arrest Edgar, he resisted. He was eventually placed in the patrol car, but began hitting his head against the cage in the vehicle. Edgar was then placed in a WRAP device and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold, pending the filing of state charges for: Resisting Arrest, 2nd Degree Child Endangerment, 4th Degree Assault, and Animal Abuse.


Around 4:00 Wednesday afternoon (Mar 15), Sedalia Police responded to the 700 block of North Osage Avenue in reference to a 911 call. Officers arrived and found the suspect had a FTA warrant from Pettis County. The suspect, 34-year-old Marvin A. Smith was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, with a $2,500 bond.


Just after midnight Wednesday (Mar 15), Sedalia Police checked on a truck with the rear lights on, in the parking lot at Auto Masters, located at 1400 South Limit. The report says that officers found a man sleeping in the vehicle. A check through dispatch revealed the man had a FTA warrant from Perry County Missouri. The man was identified as 46-year-old Scott Allen Settles of Taylor, Michigan. Settles was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, with a bond of $300.


Around 3:20 Wednesday afternoon (Mar 15), Sedalia Police responded to the 200 block of South Harding Avenue, in reference to a theft. The victim said someone had stolen multiple items, amounting to $2,511.50. There are no suspects and no further details were listed in that report.


On Wednesday (Mar 15), Pettis County Sheriff's deputies took a report of two mailboxes that had been struck by a vehicle, in the 500 block of East 36th Street. No further details were listed in that report


Around 7:30 Wednesday night (Mar 15), Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers arrested 29-year-old Jeremy R. Mullins, of Sedalia, for a felony warrant from Pettis County and a felony warrant from Morgan County. Mullins was taken to the Pettis County Jail, with no bond.
