Sedalia Mayor Galliher announces resignation of City Councilwoman Rebecca La Strada

Sedalia Mayor Stephen Galliher announced today (July 11) that Sedalia City Councilwoman Rebecca La Strada turned in a resignation letter yesterday afternoon. La Strada will step down from city council effective, July 21, 2014.

“It is with deepest regret yesterday afternoon that Councilwoman La Strada came into the office and turned her equipment in and resignation papers,” said Mayor Galliher. “It is for personal and health reasons that she is not able to continue out her term.”

Galliher spoke highly of her time on city council and respects her decision. Galliher hopes to have a replacement in place for Ward 2 to finish out La Strada’s term.

“I have a person in mind,” said Galliher. “I need to talk to the individual I have in mind to see if they would consider that.”

Rebecca La Strada has served as 2nd Ward Councilwoman since 2011.

Here is the full press conference from Friday, July 11 at 10:30 am.
