Last night (Oct. 1) Sedalia Fire Chief, Mike Ditzfeld and Deputy Fire Chief Gregg Harrell took the Sedalia City Council and the media on a guided tour of the new fire station, which is now more than 50% completed. The facility sports four Hugh bays that  will house the new larger fire truck that is due to arrive in November, along with other fire engines.

Harrell led the group through the building, which seems like a forest of aluminum awaiting sheetrock at this time. The building will house the administrative offices and a training facility that includes classrooms and a tower that will test the stamina and strength of those wishing to join the firefighters. There is also a weight training room, bedroom and bathroom facilities and a large kitchen dining room area.

The building is already the envy of other fire departments, who will want to take advantage of its training areas. Listen to our complete interview with Chief Ditzfeld below.
