On Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m., Sedalia Police were called to Casey's, 716 W. 16th on a report of a robbery.

According to a report, a subject entered the store with a hatchet and demanded money from a cash register. He obtained $220, then fled the area east on foot. No one was hurt in the incident.

Investigation revealed that the suspect was 50-year-old Freddie J. Thomas. Police showed up at his residence in the 1200 block of Osage and discovered items used in the robbery. Thomas was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail. He was charged with 1st degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

His bond and court date were TBA.
