Sedalia Police were called to The Buckle around 11:30 a.m. on March 28 to investigate a reported theft. According to store employees, two suspects, described as black males, came into the store and said they were shopping for jeans for a girlfriend. The manager directed them to a display of jeans, and the men allegedly scooped up arms full of jeans and fled the store. The employee told police that she attempted to stop them, and one of them threatened to hurt her. The men got into a gold Dodge Avenger occupied by a third suspect that was waiting to drive away. The employee was able to get a partial plate. No one in the store was injured.


A 23-year-old man was arrested after police were dispatched to Woods Supermarket at 701 E. Broadway on March 29 for a theft in progress. The suspect, identified as Cody Ryan McDaniel, was arrested after a short foot pursuit near the Katy Depot. Police say McDaniel was found to have two felony no-bond warrants our of Pettis County. McDaniel was taken to the Pettis County Jail and booked on the warrants, and placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges for stealing and resisting arrest.


Sedalia Police were called on March 29 to American Auto Rental and took a report of a vehicle that had not been returned to the business. The business told police that a customer had rented a blue 2012 Dodge Avenger that was supposed to be returned on March 1. As of March 29, the vehicle had not yet been returned to the business.


On March 29 at approximately 10 a.m., police responded to the 200 block of Rainbow Drive to investigate a hit-and-run incident. A resident told police that her 2005 Jeep Liberty had been struck while parked in front of her residence during the overnight hours. A suspect has not been identified.


 

On March 28, Sedalia Police were dispatched to Woods Supermarket at 701 E. Broadway for a report of a theft. Management told police that around 3 a.m. a known suspect took two newspapers that were delivered to the business, and also reported vandalism to a Kansas City Star newspaper vending machine.


On March 29, Pettis County deputies arrested Tyler R. Crutchfield for an active warrant.
