Officer struck by a vehicle and a Taser is used during an arrest Saturday evening

Just after 1:30 Saturday morning Sedalia Police observed a vehicle run a stop light on Ohio Street. Following attempts to get the vehicle to stop, officers deployed stop sticks on the roadway. The report states the driver avoided the stop sticks by driving off of the road. When an officer approached the vehicle the driver began to move again, and struck the officer at a low rate of speed, then left the area at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was finally stopped in the area of Airpark road. The police report says the driver; 26-year-old Walter Lee Simms would not listen to commands, and was taken into custody with the use of a Taser. At the time of the police report Simms was being held in the Pettis County Jail pending formal charges of Assault on a law enforcement officer 1st degree, resisting arrest a felony, Driving while suspended, and Driving while intoxicated.

Sedalia man arrested on a Cole County Warrant Sunday evening

At 6:21 Sunday evening Sedalia Police responded to a residence in the 100 block of East Johnson on a disturbance. Upon arrival officers made contact with a man leaving the area. Following an investigation the subject identified as 45-year-old Devin Montgomery of the residence was found to have an active warrant for failure to appear out of Cole County. Montgomery was arrested and transported to the Pettis County jail pending a $20,000 bond.

47-year-old Sedalia man arrested for threatening a woman with a bat Sunday

Around 10am Sunday morning Sedalia Police responded to an assault. Upon arrival a female victim told Sedalia Police, that 47-year-old Garcia Artimio Aguilera her mother’s boyfriend had threatened her with a bat. Following an investigation Aguilera was arrested and transported to the Pettis County jail pending 2nd degree assault charges.

Lincoln suspect arrested on a Benton County warrant Saturday morning

Just after 10am Saturday morning Sedalia Police arrested 37-year-old Cherry Jane Rahman of Lincoln on an active Benton County warrant for stealing a motor vehicle. Rahman was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail pending a $10,000 bond.

Pilot Grove man arrested Saturday on drug related charges

At 10:42 Saturday morning Sedalia Police observed a man walking in the roadway. A subsequent check on the man identified as 50-year-old Dennis Lee Dotson of Pilot Grove resulted in his arrest for a drug violation synthetic narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sedalia man arrested for failure to appear warrant Saturday morning

33-year-old David Brown of Sedalia was arrested Saturday morning for a failure to appear warrant out of the City of Sedalia. Bond was set at $200 CASH ONLY.

Thefts reported to the Sedalia Police over the weekend

Friday afternoon Perry E. Bales Jr. of Sedalia was arrested for stealing clothes from the Walmart Store. Bales was booked and released at the Pettis County jail with a court date.

Saturday afternoon a woman in the 1100 block of South Sneed reported a gazing ball and concrete stand valued at $80 was stolen from her yard.

Casey’s at 1601 East Broadway reported a $45.28 gas drive off around 6:30 Sunday morning. The police have a license number, and the suspect is known according to the police report.

Friday afternoon Walmart reported suspects stole a speaker from the store.

At 2:04 pm a victim in the 500 block reported two apartments in their building had been burglarized between the hours of 10:30am and 12:30 pm Sunday, There was no information on what was taken in the burglaries.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Reports

According to a Pettis County Sheriff’s report Deputies arrested Brandon Blaylock on an active Pettis County warrant at the probation and parole office at 205 Thompson Blvd. this (Monday) (May 19, 2014) morning. At last report Blaylock was in the Pettis County Jail pending further action.

The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office received a property damage complaint from a male victim in the 29,000 block of Apple Valley Road this (Monday May 19, 2014) morning. According to the victim someone damaged his mailbox sometime over the weekend.
