Two Reported Burn Ban Violations Occur Over Weekend

Pettis County Fire Department and Pettis County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a large grass fire located on Highway V on Saturday afternoon (March 31). Pettis County Deputies gave Petro Gavrishchuk a summons for a violation of the Pettis County burn ban in effect. Pettis County Deputies also responded to the area of Southgate Circle for a possible burn ban violation yesterday (March 30).

Sedalia Police Investigate Disturbance at Liberty Park

Sedalia Police went to Liberty Park in the 1500 Block of West 3rd Street last night (March 30) on a report of a man that was struck by a car. Several witnesses reported there was a fight involving several subjects and a vehicle purposely struck the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported by Pettis County Ambulance to Bothwell Regional Health Center with unknown injuries. Later that evening, a man reported to Sedalia Police that he was traveling through an alley near 3rd and Grand, when a passenger car drove at them in the alley and stopped their movement. The people in the vehicle waved handguns out the windows of the vehicle before leaving the area.

Pettis County Deputies received a report of a child abuse complaint in the 1900 Block of East 37th Street on March 27 or 28.

Several Thefts and Property Damage Cases Reported

A man in the 400 Block of Albright Court reported to Sedalia Police that someone stole his 2012 Peace Sportsw TPGS 805 49cc Renegade Scooter, valued at $450, from outside his apartment. Someone cut the chain to steal it.

The Pettis County Sheriff's Department received a report of several parked vehicles that were damaged in the Sharky's Billiards parking lot on Saturday night (March 29).

A woman reported to Sedalia Police that her car was struck, while parked in the Save-A-Lot parking lot last night.

A man in the area of Swisher Road and Highway 52 in Ionia reported to Pettis County Deputies that his travel trailer was broken into sometime in the last month. The suspect stole a pair of shoes, black iPod and silver necklace.

Sedalia Police went to Bothwell Regional Health Center on a report of a dog bite. The family dog had bit them whenever the family was arguing in the 400 Block of East 6th. One victim had a minor injury to her left thigh. The second victim had a major injury to her left forearm. Both victims went to Bothwell Regional Health Center on their own.

Several Arrests Made Over The Weekend

Sedalia Police arrested Larry Limback for driving while suspended, bond set at $533.50.

Sedalia Police arrested James Kempf for a public peace disturbance, bond set at $283.

Sedalia Police arrested Valerie Wiseman for failure to appear, bond set at $88.50.

Sedalia Police arrested William Staten and Terry Doyle for domestic assault in the 3rd.

Sedalia Police arrested Sherman Ward for assault in the 3rd degree.

Sedalia Police arrested William Vinyard for domestic assault in the 2nd.

Sedalia Police arrested Mark Dean for driving while suspended.
