On February 27th, around 6:19 in the evening, in the 3800 block of West Broadway, Sedalia Police officers responded to a report of a subject slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle. Police and medical personnel responded at the same time. The male subject was located in a black SUV. He had to be woken up and checked out by medical personnel. Upon further investigation, drug paraphenalia was found. After being cleared by medical, 33-year old Jeffery S. Brown was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending state charges.

 

Late in the evening on February 26th, just before 11:00, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at Pettis and Osage Avenues. 59-year old Marvin Duane Spruell, was issued a field sobriety test, and failed. He was arrested for DWI and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

 

Around 8:00 in the morning on February 27th, officers were dispatched to Comfort Inn at 3600 West Broadway, in regards to a theft report. The victim stated sometime between February 25th and 27th, someone had taken $2,500.00 worth of items out of the back of his pick-up truck. There are no suspects at this time.

 

On February 28th, Pettis County Sheriff's Deputies arested Darrick Thomas Brown and Shannon L. Furnell, in the 5600 block of South Limit Avenue. Brown was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child. Furnell was arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful use of a weapon. They were both transported to the Pettis County Jail.
On February 26th, deputies responded to the 100 block of East Washington Street, in Smithton, in reference to a non-breathing, female subject. The Pettis County Coroner was notified and the investigation was released to the Coroner's Office.
