The Sedalia Police, Fire Department and Pettis County Fire Department would like to remind you that a burn ban is still in effect for Pettis County in. Yesterday, the Sedalia Fire Department and Pettis County Fire Department responded to Irish Road for a grass fire that took a little time to get under control and the fire was put out.

Monday afternoon (July 30), Sedalia Police went to the 1800 Block of West Broadway for an agency assist. A complainant said that one of the staff members violated company policy by restraining a subject who is mentally handicapped and who is a juvenile. The complainant already notified the child abuse hotline and said that she wanted to report the incident as directed by her supervisor.

Yesterday (July 31), Sedalia Police found two dogs chained in a backyard without shelter or water. The dogs were given water at the scene then removed from the property and taken to the animal shelter.

Monday morning (July 30), Sedalia Police went to the 500 Block of West Benton to check on a vehicle. The 1998 Dodge pickup was reported stolen on July 27 out of Sweet Springs.

A woman in the 1400 Block of West 11th reported to Sedalia Police that someone stole two wheels and tires belonging to her 1996 Chevy Blazer.

A woman in the 1100 Block of East 5th, reported to Sedalia Police that a Mongoose 20 inch boys bike was stolen.

Monday afternoon (July 30), Sedalia Police went to the 1700 Block of South Summit as a woman reported her home was broken into and several things were broken.

A man reported to Sedalia Police that sometime in the last week, somebody created false checks and passed at least three of them at Sedalia businesses.

A woman from Houstonia reported to Pettis County Deputies that someone attempted to make a purchase with banking information without her consent.

Yesterday (July 31), Sedalia Police received a report that somebody in the 2500 Block of Southwest Boulevard dumped a bag full of clothes on the ground.

Sedalia Police arrested Steven Cooper for stealing, robbery in the second, and a Benton County warrant, bond set at $20,000.

A key was found in the middle of South Osage near the intersection of West 4th and was turned into Sedalia Police.
