The following Sedalia Police crime reports and Missouri State Highway Patrol accident reports are from the afternoon of Dec. 20, 2013.

Thefts from a cargo van reported Monday

On Monday, a victim in the 1300 block of North Missouri reported the theft of several items valued at $515 from a Cargo Van. The victim told officers the thieves made entry to the van by breaking the passenger side window. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $150. There were no suspects.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Accident Reports

Around 2:30 Thursday afternoon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a one-vehicle accident on Business Highway 13 South of Country road Northeast 51 in Johnson County. The accident reportedly occurred when the driver of a Southbound 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, 23-year-old Ashley Brandenburg of Warrensburg, fell asleep and travelled into the northbound lane, where she struck a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by 80-year-old James Evert of Concordia. The report states the Brandenburg vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway, and the Evert vehicle traveled off the east side of the roadway and struck an embankment. Brandenburg and her passenger, 1-year-old Karma Brandenburg, received minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to the Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s office, investigated a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 10:43 Thursday night on Route “VV” west of County Road Southwest 601 in Johnson County. The accident occurred as the driver of a 2004 Ford Ranger, 22-year-old Jacob Lawrence of Lee’s Summitt, lost control of his vehicle and ran off the right side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, then ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned. Lawrence received minor injuries and was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center by the Johnson County Ambulance District for treatment.
