One-year-old child reportedly exposed to a sexually transmitted disease

The Sedalia Police Department and The Pettis County Children’s Division are reportedly investigating a case involving a one-year-old child being exposed to a sexually transmitted disease in the 1700 block of East 4th. There was no further information at news time.

 

Assault charges sought on a male suspect who assaulted his child’s mother

At 3:32 Saturday afternoon, Sedalia police investigated an assault complaint from a female victim in the 2900 block of East 12th. The police report states the complainant who had injuries reported that the father of her child had assaulted her. The report also says charges are being sought on the suspect.

 

Woman reports thieves stole items from her deceased grandmother’s house

At 4:18 Saturday afternoon, a female complainant came to the Sedalia Police Department to report a burglary, that occurred at her deceased grandmother’s house in the 500 block of west 11th. The complainant told officers a refrigerator, a water filtration system and a cedar chest her grandmother had left her was stolen from the deceased woman’s home sometime over the past two-months. There was no information on a possible suspect at news time.

 

48-year old Sedalia man arrested on a Cole County Warrant Friday night

At 11:10 Friday night, Sedalia police responded to the area of 12th and Massachusetts on a disturbance. Upon arrival officers found several subjects in a front yard, who told them they had been having a verbal argument. A check on the subjects revealed one of them identified as 48-year-old Ronald Hillig of Sedalia had an active warrant for Larceny out of Cole County. At the time of the police report Hillig was in the Pettis County Jail pending $5000 bond.

 

Revoked driver arrested Friday night for failure to signal for a turn

Around 8:30 Friday night, Sedalia police stopped a vehicle at 5th and Ohio for failure to signal for a turn. A check on the driver, 48-year-old Ryan Whithrow of Sedalia revealed he was a revoked driver. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released with a court date. The police report states Withrow was also issued a warning for failure to signal a turn.

 

Vehicle stop for no registration results in arrest for a Sedalia man

At 10:35 Friday night, Sedalia police stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of South Ohio for no registration. A check on the passengers revealed one of them identified as 51-year-old James Hedrick of Sedalia had a failure to appear warrant out of Benton County. At the time of the police report Hedrick was in the Pettis County Jail pending $3000 bond.

 

Suspect arrested on a warrant Friday night during a burglary call

Just before 7 o’clock Friday night Sedalia police investigated a report of a burglary in progress in the 500 block of east 13th.  Upon arrival officers were informed the suspect had left the area, and was in the 500 block of East 14th. The police report states the subject was found hiding in the bushes in that area. The suspect, 25-year-old Richard Batzel of Sedalia told officers he used to live in the area, and had permission to be in the garage. A check through dispatch revealed Batzel had a Sedalia warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County jail pending $150 cash only bond on the warrant.

 

Suspect damages a vehicle and a resident’s door on East 26th

Just after midnight Sunday morning Sedalia police responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of East 26th involving a baseball bat. Upon arrival the victim reported the front door of the residence was damaged by a suspect with a bat, who also put a long scratch on the passenger side of his vehicle. The suspect had left the area prior to the arrival of the police. Estimated damage was around $1000.

 

Local car lot reports the theft of a stereo system

At 10 o’clock Saturday morning Sedalia police took a theft complaint from Ryan’s Motors located at 520 West Benton. According to the complainant sometime over the past two-weeks someone stole a stereo system from a 2008 Mazda parked on their lot. Value of the stereo/DVD was set at $500. There were no suspects.

 

Local Auto Shop reports thefts from the business

Just before 7 o’clock Friday morning Bob’s Auto Shack at 315 East Main reported the theft of a Poulan Chainsaw, and $20 in cash from the business sometime overnight. There were no suspects at the time of the police report.
