The following Sedalia Police crime reports are from the afternoon of April 21, 2014.

Suspect arrested after attempting to steal a vehicle Sunday morning

Around 11:40 Sunday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 300 block of West Broadway on a subject walking down the middle of the street. Upon arrival, the police report states they saw a man running between moving vehicles and someone was chasing him. Witnesses told the officers the suspect had jumped into the driver’s seat of their vehicle at a convenience store and attempted to steal the vehicle with one of the victims still inside. Officers arrested 25-year-old Jermaine Williams of Sedalia and transported him to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on 24-hour hold pending multiple charges, including robbery, assault, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

Sedalia man arrested for fighting early Saturday morning

Just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning, Sedalia Police were called to the area of Coach's Bar at 303 South Lamine on a report of fighting. The suspect, 25-year-old John-Paul Sullivan of Sedalia, attempted to flee the area when police arrived. Officers arrested Sullivan, who was then taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center due to intoxication and injuries he had sustained. The police report also states Sullivan was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was admitted to the hospital. Charges of resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and peace disturbance are being sought on him.

Sedalia man picked up at the Johnson County Line on a warrant

On Sunday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Johnson County/Pettis County line to pickup 29-year-old Scott Newberry of Warrensburg on a failure to appear warrant. Bond on the warrant was $88.50

Two cases of theft reported to Sedalia Police

At 6:28 Friday evening Sedalia Police were sent to the Walmart Store on a shoplifter. Upon arrival, asset protection personnel told officers that 36-year-old Jason Scott Klein of Sedalia had selected a Lifeproof Cell Phone Case from electronics, which was found in his pocket as he tried to leave the store without paying for the item. Klein was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges for stealing.

Around 2:45 Saturday afternoon 23-year-old Zachary Palmer of Sedalia was arrested for stealing at the Walmart Store. According to the police report, Palmer was placed on 24-hour hold in the Pettis County Jail pending charges of 1st degree burglary and shoplifting.

Woman reports theft and property damage early this (Monday) morning

Just before 5:30 this morning, a female victim in the 200 block of East 19th reported thefts from her vehicle. According to the woman, someone broke the driver’s side window out and took an iPod, 2-RCA DVD Players, four vials of insulin and her purse containing her ID cards and a bank card. There were no suspects at news time.
