Here are your Sedalia Police crime reports for the afternoon of Dec. 5, 2012.

Sexual assault on a juvenile under investigation

At 10:07 Tuesday morning, Sedalia police were dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center regarding a reported sexual assault on a juvenile. Upon arrival,officers met with the complainant who told them the juvenile victim had reported being sexually assaulted on Monday. The victim was seeking medical attention at the time of the police report. An investigation is currently underway in the case, which is classified as a rape in the police report.

Local Convenience Store owner arrested on drug related charges

Just after 2:00 Tuesday afternoon, the Sedalia Police Department S.T.I.N.G. Unit served a search warrant at the Short Cut Convenience Store located at 1515 Thompson Blvd. During the search, officers found synthetic cannabinoids, also known as “K2,” and drug paraphernalia. The press release states the owner of the business, 35-year-old Jayeshkumar Patel of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and distribution of a controlled substance within 2000 feet of a school. The press release also states this is the second time this year a warrant has been served at the business.

Animal complaint leads to arrest for a parole violation warrant

Just before midnight Sunday night, Sedalia police responded to the American Inn at 1217 South Limit on an animal complaint. Upon arrival, the complainant told officers guests of the hotel had animals on the premises, which was not allowed. During an investigation, officers found one of the guests, 30-year-old Barbara Shull of Knob Noster, had an active warrant for parole violation. Shull was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was being held without bond ay the time of the police report.

27-year-old Sedalia woman arrested on multiple charges at Walmart

At 10:26 Tuesday night, Sedalia police were dispatched to the Walmart Store on a theft report. Upon arrival, a store employee reported she had observed the suspect, 27-year-old Melinda Lamb of Sedalia, switch price tags on items, then pay the lower price of $21.45 for merchandise that was originally priced at $63.64. The police report states that while searching Lamb’s purse, they found a syringes, and a spoon that contained methamphetamine. At the time of the police report Lamb was on 24-hour hold in the Pettis County Jail pending formal charges.

Traffic stop early this (Wednesday) morning nets two suspects

Around 12:40 this (Wednesday) morning, Sedalia police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with improper registration. A check of the occupants of the vehicle revealed one of them, 24-year-old Amy Wright of Sedalia, had a warrant out of Marshall for failure to appear on a shoplifting charge. The police report states she was taken to the Pettis/Saline County Line and turned over to Marshall Police. Also arrested was 23-year-old Audrey Wright of Sedalia. The police report states she was arrested on a possession of marijuana charge with a bond of $531.50.

26-year-old Sedalia man arrested Tuesday morning on a Municipal warrant

At 9:09 Tuesday morning during a warrant check, Sedalia Police arrested 26-year-old Richard Butzel of Sedalia. At the time of the police report he was in the Pettis County Jail pending a $500 cash only bond.

Warsaw man taken into custody at the Benton County Line

Just before 10:00 Tuesday night, Sedalia police took custody of 40-year-old Robert Harvilla at the Benton/Pettis County Line. The police report states Harvilla had a Sedalia Municipal warrant for failure to appear on a charge of shoplifting. Bond on the charge was set at $86.50.
