Police investigate a child abuse hotline call Thursday January 23rd

On Thursday, the Sedalia Police Department’s Children’s Division reported a Child Abuse Hotline call involving a 4-year-old child. According to the police report, the call reported allegations of sexual and physical abuse, as well as lack of supervision.  The case is currently under investigation.

Child abuse reported by a child’s mother Sunday evening

At 6:50 Sunday evening, two subjects came to the police station to report a possible case of child abuse. According to the mother of the child, when her daughter returned home from her father’s house, she noticed marks on her buttocks. The police report states a hotline call has been made in the case and an investigation is underway.

Sedalia teen arrested Saturday for assaulting his grandmother

At 9:19 Saturday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of North Grand on an assault complaint. Upon arrival, the female victim told officers her grandson had been pushing her and hit her with a rake. Arrested in the incident was 19-year-old Virgil Andrew Edgar II. Edgar was taken to the Pettis County jail pending formal charges.

Warsaw man arrested on Benton County Warrants Saturday night

Around 7:20 Saturday night, Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle with defective tail lights at 10th and Barrett. A subsequent check on the driver, 54-year-old Mack Dedman of Warsaw, revealed he had two active warrants out of Benton County. At the time of the police report, he was being held in the Pettis County Jail on bonds totaling $20,150.

Sedalia man arrested on a probation violation warrant

Just after 9 p.m. Friday night, Sedalia police responded to Wood’s Supermarket at 701 East Broadway on a warrant check. Upon arrival, officers made contact with 35-year-old Nazareth Bush of Sedalia, who had a probation violation warrant out of Pettis County. Bush was arrested and transported to the Pettis County jail pending a $4500 bond.

Traffic stop nets man with a warrant Sunday morning

At 12:43 Sunday morning, Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle at 10th and Barrett for failure to signal. A check through dispatch revealed the driver, 23-year-old Alfonso Gonzalez of Sedalia, had an active Pettis County Warrant for failure to appear. At the time of the police report, he was in the Pettis County jail pending a $2500 bond.

Windsor woman arrested Saturday for stealing

Around 3:45 Saturday afternoon, 24-year-old Crystal Cummins of Windsor was arrested at the Salvation Army Store at 1305 South Limit for shoplifting clothes from the store. Cummins was taken to the Pettis County Jail pending a $533.50 bond.

Thief targets Menards Friday morning

According to a complainant at Menards at 4400 Wisconsin Ave., a man came into the store sometime Friday morning, took a security camera system valued at $89.99 and left without paying for it. There was no suspect information in the police report.

Cell phone stolen from man’s truck Saturday

On Saturday, a victim reported that his cell phone was stolen from his truck while he was at the Thompson Car Wash located at 10th and Thompson Blvd. Value of the phone was placed at $600. There were no suspects at the time of the police report.
