The following Sedalia Police crime reports are from the afternoon of June 10, 2013.

Arsonist attempts to blow up a vehicle on South Grand

At 8:46 Sunday morning, Sedalia police investigated a case of tampering with a motor vehicle in the 300 block of South Grand. According to the female victim, someone stuffed a rag in the fill spout of her 2001 Ford Taurus and lit it on fire. The fire was put out before it hit the gas tank, but approximately $1000 in damage was reported due to the melting of the fill spout. No suspect information was available at news time.

Two suspects arrested during a traffic stop Friday night

Around 9:30 Friday night, Sedalia police stopped a vehicle at Main Street and Industrial Drive for having no front license plate. During an investigation, officers found one of the occupants of the vehicle was a female suspect identified as 30-year-old April Geiler of Sedalia, who had a failure to appear warrant for child endangerment and a failure to appear warrant for larceny. Geiler was also found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  She was on 24-hour hold pending formal charges at the time of the police report. A second suspect in the vehicle, identified as 24-year-old Mathew Fisher, was arrested for warrants of non-support, driving while revoked and larceny. The police report also states that Fisher was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Fisher was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail pending $6000 bond on the warrants and formal charges for possession.

58-year-old Sedalia man arrested on a failure to appear warrant

At 11:15 Friday morning, Sedalia police stopped a vehicle at 3rd and Washington with a driver known to have an active warrant. Upon confirmation of the warrant, officers arrested 58-year-old Roy Alexander of Sedalia and transported him to the Pettis County jail pending a $3500 bond on the warrant.

Traffic stop late Friday night results in arrest for a 22-year-old man

During a traffic stop late Friday night, Sedalia police arrested a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Stephen BrandKamp of Sedalia. Brandkamp was taken to the Pettis County Jail pending a bond of $2500 on a Pettis County Warrant for taking game out of season.

Suspended driver from Independence arrested for driving while suspended Friday

Just after 11:00 Friday morning, Sedalia police stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of K-Mart for a driver who was suspended. At the time of the police report, the driver, 20-year-old Mark Dean of Independence, was in the Pettis County Jail pending $533.50 bond.

Police answer a disturbance call at McDonald's early Sunday morning

Just before 2:00 Sunday morning, Sedalia police responded to a disturbance at the McDonald's located at 1611 South Limit. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been in a fight with another man, who had left the area. The victim had injuries to the face and was treated at the scene by APSI personnel. There was no other information in the police report.

Numerous thefts reported in the Sedalia area over the last three days

A man in the 2100 block of East 16th reported the theft of four guns from his safe valued at $2100 sometime over the last month while he worked out of town.

Around 7:20 Friday night, a victim in the 400 block of East 7th reported a weed eater worth $100 was stolen from behind the residence.

At 8:34 Saturday morning, a victim in the 500 block of East 5th reported thieves cut the battery cables on a 2001 Ford Taurus and stole the battery valued at $89.11 from Walmart.

Prescription medication was reported stolen from an apartment in the 200 block of West 10th. The thief is reportedly a person known to the victim.
