The following Sedalia Police crime reports are from the afternoon of June 17, 2013.

Officer shoots charging dog Sunday evening

Just before 5:00 Sunday evening, Sedalia police received a call involving a woman who had been bitten by a dog in the area of 3rd and Engineer. Upon arrival, an officer stated he witnessed the dog charge several pedestrians in the area. The dog then reportedly charged the police officer, forcing him to shoot the animal. The police report states the owner of the dog was informed of the incident.

Boat cover reported cut in the 400 block of East 16th

Just after 8:00 Saturday morning, a male victim in the 400 block of East 16th reported someone had cut the cover of his boat parked behind his home. Value of the cover was placed at $600 and there were no suspects at the time of the police report.

Woman’s purse stolen when she leaves it on her front porch

Around 7:00 Sunday morning, a female victim in the 600 block of West 7th reported the theft of her purse. According to the victim, she was waiting for a taxi and went back into her apartment to get an umbrella, leaving her bag on the porch. When she returned, the bag containing her purse and other items was gone. The purse contained $214 in cash, an iPhone, social security card, a green card and other personal items. There was no information on a possible suspect in the theft.

Local car lot reports a burglary Saturday morning

At 8:00 Saturday morning, a complainant at Car-Mart located at 3303 South Limit reported a burglary at the car lot. According to the police report, someone entered through a hole made in the rear wall of the business. Somebody also tampered with the electric meter leaving the business without power. There was no information on anything missing from the business, and no suspect information was included in the police report.

Thieves target a vehicle on Sedalia’s east side Sunday

At 8:39 Sunday night, a victim in the 400 block of East 5th reported the theft of a Clarion Touch Screen Stereo from his vehicle. The theft reportedly took placed after 3:00 that morning. Value of the stereo was placed at $500. There were no suspects at news time.

 Woman reports thieves entered her home entered as she slept to steal items

A female victim in the 400 block of East 7th reported that thieves entered her apartment while she slept and removed a camera, a 20” flat screen television and a laptop computer. There was no information on a suspect in the case.
