The following crime reports and accident reports are from the afternoon of Jan. 18, 2013.

Forgery case under investigation in Sedalia

At 2:20 Wednesday afternoon, Sedalia police investigated an case of forgery in the 1000 block of State Fair Blvd. According to a female victim, a suspect known to her stole a check and forged her name. The check was for $200 according to the victim. The suspect was not named in the police report, but charges are being sought in the case.

Suspect sought for fraudulent use of a debit card

Around 10:15 Wednesday morning, a Sedalia man reported several fraudulent transactions were made with his debit card at an ATM machine at the Casey’s Store located at 1601 East Broadway. The police report states there is a suspect in the case.

Illinois license plate reported stolen Thursday afternoon

A complainant in the 200 block of West 2nd reported an Illinois license plate was stolen from a vehicle sometime overnight Wednesday. The plate, with the number 1100531 on it, was taken from a 2005 Chevy Silverado. There were no suspects at the time of the police report.

A case of internet fraud reported on Thursday

On Thursday, a victim in the 300 block of McNally Court reported a case of internet fraud to the Sedalia Police Department. According to the 32-year-old male victim, he had received an email advertising a $2000 loan with low rates. The victim said the loan required him to wire $160 by Western Union to Bangladesh, India for first, which he did. The loan has apparently not happened at this time.

Saline County accident injures a 72-year-old Sedalia man

At 8:15 Thursday morning, the Missouri State Highway patrol reported a one-vehicle accident on US 65 Highway South of 105 road in Saline County. The accident reportedly occurred as the driver of a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis, 72-year-old Jesse Mascarenaz of Sedalia, lost control of his vehicle on the ice covered roadway, traveled onto the grass median, crossed over the median and struck a culvert. Mascarenaz suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Bothwell Hospital for treatment.

62-year-old Holden man injured in a Johnson County accident

Around 2:40 Thursday afternoon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported an injury accident that occurred on County Road 555 a tenth of a mile West of Missouri 131 in Johnson County. The accident happened as 62-year-old Charles Rust of Holden was standing on the front bumper of a vehicle driven by 50-year-old William Vance of Holden. Rust reportedly fell from the bumper, and was run over by the vehicle. He was then taken by Lifeflight to Research Hospital in Kansas City for treatment of moderate injuries.
