The following Sedalia Police crime reports and Missouri State Highway Patrol accident reports are from the afternoon of July 9, 2013.

Sedalia man arrested early this morning on a warrant

At 12:40 this morning, Sedalia police responded to a residence in the 1700 block of South Prospect on a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two subjects. A check through dispatch revealed one of the subjects, identified as 24-year-old Carl Anthony Hartley II, had a Johnson County warrant for larceny. Hartley was arrested and taken to the Pettis County jail pending a $4500 bond.

Police arrest a man walking in the 1900 block of West 10th on a warrant

Around 12:30 this morning, Sedalia police observed two subjects walking in the area of 1900 West 10th. Upon contact with the subjects, it was found that one of them, 32-year-old Gonzalo Esqueda of Sedalia, had a failure to appear warrant out of Warrensburg. At the time of the police report, he was in the Pettis County jail pending a $300 bond.

Burglary complaint investigated early this morning on East 14th

At 3:12 this morning, Sedalia police took a burglary complaint in the 1800 block of East 14th. According to the victim, he was awakened by a suspect trying to steal items from his home. The burglar was chased from the home by the victim’s son according to the police report. There was no other information at the time of the police report.

Two Slater women suffer serious injury in a Saline County accident

At 12:30 Monday afternoon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a one-vehicle accident on Missouri 240 at Silver Avenue in Saline County. The accident occurred as the 1993 Buick LeSabre driven by 34-year-old Maryetta Norman of Slater traveled off the right side of the roadway, over-corrected and went off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a ditch and overturned. Norman and a passenger, 9-year-old Shylynn Brown of Slater, received serious injuries and were taken to the University of Missouri Hospital at Columbia by EMS for treatment.

57-year-old Oak Grove female victim moderately injured in a two-vehicle crash

Around 11:30 Sunday morning, an Oak Grove woman suffered moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Missouri Highway “7” at Route “DD” in Benton County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred as the 2006 Chevrolet driven by 65-year-old Jerald Noland of Edwards turned into the path of a 2008 KIA driven by 57-year-old Annette Massey of Oak Grove. Massey received moderate injuries in the crash and was taken to Lake Regional Hospital by St. John's Ambulance for treatment.

Pettis County accident reported Monday night on Goodwill Chapel Road

At 9:00 Monday night, 24-year-old Jonathan Bell of Lamonte received minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident that occured on Goodwill Chapel Road west of “M” Highway in Pettis County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol report states that Bell was a passenger in a 2001 Chevrolet Impala driven by 27-year-old Terry Wiseman of Sedalia, when the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a tree.  Bell refused treatment at the scene.
