Sonic Drive-In robbed at gunpoint Monday night

At 10:37 Monday night, Sedalia police were dispatched to the Sonic Drive-In at 2800 South Limit on a reported robbery with a gun. Upon arrival, employees of the drive-in told the officers that four black men entered the business and pointed a gun at them. The robbers ordered the employees to open the safe and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe before leaving the area. There was no report of anyone being harmed in the robbery. The incident is being investigated.

Motorcycle rider suffers a leg injury in Johnson County accident

At 12:30 Sunday afternoon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on County Road 187 in Johnson County. The accident occurred as both drivers were on a race track and the driver of a 2013 Suzuki Motorcycle, 40-year-old Robert Rawlins of Liberty, missed a gear and put his leg down to stabilize the bike. The accident report states the second vehicle, a 2013 KTM driven by 51-year-old Ricky Canfield of Topeka, Kansas, then struck Rawlins' leg causing moderate injuries. Rawlins was transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City by Johnson County EMS for treatment.

Sweet Springs woman injured in a Saline County accident Saturday night

At 11:35 Saturday night, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Route “EE” at 140th Road in Saline County. The accident reportedly occurred as the driver of a 2002 Ford, 16-year-old Brittany Simmons of Sweet Springs, swerved to miss a deer and traveled off the right side of the roadway. Simmons then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway and overturn. A passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Madison Western of Sweet Springs, was not wearing her seat belt and received minor injuries.  She was taken to Community Hospital by a private vehicle for treatment.
