The following Sedalia Police crime reports and Missouri State Highway Patrol accident reports are from the afternoon of Sept. 17, 2013.

Sedalia man arrested for burning in his back yard and resisting arrest 

At 12:36 this morning, Sedalia police were dispatched to a home in the 1600 block of East 4th on an illegal burn. Upon contact with the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Shannon Wheatley of the residence, he was observed throwing furniture onto a large burn pile in his backyard and refused to stop. The police report states Wheatley also resisted arrest. The police report also states he was arrested and transported to the Pettis County jail where he was placed on 12-hour protective custody for intoxication. He also has a bond of $716.50 for burning garbage and resisting arrest.

Traffic stop nets man with a Sedalia warrant for failure to appear

Around 7:30 on Monday morning, Sedalia police stopped a vehicle at South Missouri and West Henry for a traffic violation. A computer check on the driver, 34-year-old Kelly Deigan of Sedalia, revealed he had a warrant out of the city of Sedalia for stealing. Deigen was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending an $88.50 bond.

Lafayette County accident injures two Marshall residents

At 10:15 Saturday morning, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a one-vehicle accident at mile marker 43.4 on I-70 in Lafayette County. The accident reportedly occurred as the 1996 Toyota driven by 28-year-old Erik Swanson of Marshall traveled off the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned, coming to rest on its wheels. While the driver suffered no injuries, his passengers, 23-year-old Jeri Dehling and 5-year-old Amera Dehling of Marshall, received moderate injuries and were transported to Centerpoint Medical Center by EMS for treatment. The 5-year-old was the only one wearing a seatbelt according to the accident report.

Odessa woman injured in a Lafayette County accident

A one-vehicle injury accident was reported on Route “TT” East of Route “Z” just after 4:30 Sunday evening by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The accident happened as the 1997 Mercury driven by 30-year-old Suzanne Williams of Odessa traveled off the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. Williams suffered moderate injuries in the accident and was taken to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment by EMS.
