Sedalia Police were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. on August 19 to the 2400 block of Margaret Avenue to take a report of a sexual assault. The mother of the victim told police that her juvenile daughter had been assaulted by two people. A search warrant was executed for the residence where the incident allegedly occurred.


On August 20, Sedalia Police were dispatched to an accident near W. 18th Street and South Limit Avenue. Two vehicles collided, causing injuries to a passenger in one of the vehicles. The driver of one of the vehicles involved had a suspended driver's license. 37-year-old William Moore was taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released for driving while suspended. He was given a court date of September 20.


A Sedalia woman was arrested on August 22 after a vehicle stolen from Kansas City, KS was found in a private driveway in the 900 block of W. 3rd Street. Sedalia Police were called to the residence around 11:30 a.m. and informed of a vehicle that had been left in a back driveway. A check of the vehicle revealed that it had been reported stolen. Police say that as they were processing the vehicle’s information, a woman with a key to the vehicle approached from a nearby residence. The woman, 23-year-old Deidre M. Pace, reportedly acknowledged that she knew the vehicle was stolen and said that she had been asked to keep the vehicle at her residence. Pace would not reveal who had asked her to keep the vehicle. Pace was arrested for stealing and taken to the Pettis County Jail. The vehicle’s owner and the Kansas City, KS police department were contacted.


The Sedalia Police Department says two people were arrested on drug charges on August 21 after a traffic stop at E. 20th Street and S. Marvin Avenue. According to a police report, a vehicle was stopped for having no license plates. Police say the driver, 35-year-old Jeffrey F. Knifong, and a passenger, 26-year-old Amanda Jean Brattain, were found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, including marijuana and pills. Knifong is accused of attempting to destroy the drug paraphernalia. Both Knifong and Brattain were arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail.
