SPD reports 12-17-16

Sedalia Police arrested Rhonda L. Slack, 43, and Michael E. Slack, 41, both of Sedalia, for shoplifting at the Sedalia Wal-Mart, 3201 W. Broadway, on Friday morning. The merchandise was returned. Both suspects were taken to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released.

James Darrel Yount, 21, Sedalia, was arrested near 7th and Osage for Failure to Appear after a traffic stop for no front license plate on his vehicle on Friday afternoon. Yount had an active Municipal warrant. Bond was $50 cash. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Barrie A. Wittrock, 53, was issued a summons for illegally burning behind his house on West Third on Friday just after noon. He was reportedly burning insulation off copper wiring. He now has a court date of Jan. 11.

Christina L. Fulton, 31, Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended after a traffic stop near Scott Joplin Court and Saline on Wednesday morning. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released.

Rishaud Thomas Staten, 19, Sedalia, was arrested on six charges at 4:49 a.m. Friday near 4th and Missouri. He was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, 2nd degree Drug Trafficking, Distribution of Cocaine, Failure to Appear-Felony and Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Valid License. Staten was reportedly passed out in the driver's seat when Sedalia Police arrived. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Jorge L. Marcos, 18, Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended after a traffic stop at Broadway and State Fair Blvd., at 11:48 p.m. Thursday night, for improper lane use. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released with a court date of Jan. 18.

Kelly R. Powen, 52, Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended after a traffic stop for improper vehicle registration on Thursday morning. Powen was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released with a Feb. 8 court date.

Jarod E. Elliott, 35, Sedalia, was arrested for DWI (drug) after a traffic stop for running a stop sign at 16th and Missouri Tuesday night. The arresting officer observed that Elliott was either intoxicated or drugged. He tested poorly on a field sobriety test and was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Police took a property damage report on Wednesday in the 1500 block of Garfield involving damage to a driver's side mirror on a 1997 GMC Sierra, that caused $100 of damage.

Police took a property damage report on Thursday in the 900 block of W. 7 involving damage to a rear driver's side window, causing $200 of damage.

Police took a property damage report on Wednesday involving damage to a front door at an apartment in the 1900 block of W. 10th, causing $200 of damage.

Police took a hit-and-run report on Friday near 3rd and Harrison, where a company car was parked and the driver's side mirror was struck, causing moderate damage.

Police took a hit-and-run report on Tuesday night at El Espolon, 2400 S. Limit, involving damage to a rear passenger side of a vehicle.

Kohl's, 4300 Wisconsin, reported that two suspects came into the store and stole $74 of merchandise Wednesday afternoon just before 4 p.m.

A juvenile reported that they were assaulted at Valley View Car Wash at 600 S. Limit on Monday night, Dec. 12. There is a possible suspect in the case.
