Two people were arrested after a traffic stop just before 9 p.m. on December 10 near the area of W. Broadway and Thompson Blvd. Sedalia Police say an investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated by drugs, and was in possession of meth-related drug paraphernalia, while the passenger was in possession of meth-related paraphernalia. 33-year-old Lindsay S. Hewlett and 25-year-old Brandon L. Waters were both arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.


Police say a 31-year-old man was arrested on December 9 after attempting to flee from a traffic stop in the area of Wilkerson and Missouri. A Sedalia Police report says 31-year-old Jeffery Allen Buchanan took off into a residence in the 200 block of S. Missouri. Police made entry into the residence and arrested Buchanan for resisting arrest, driving while suspended, and two Pettis County warrants.


A Sedalia woman is accused of stealing from her employer. Police were dispatched to a business in the 1400 block of S. Limit on December 5 to take a theft report. According to police, a loss prevention employee told officers they had caught an employee returning items, and then keeping the money. This allegedly happened on two different days, and the employee is accused of taking $487 in cash. 22-year-old Sara Wagenknecht was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail.


Police questioned and then arrested a Kansas City man for fraudulent use of a credit device after he was reportedly seen on surveillance video using a stolen debit card. Police took a report on November 23 of the card being stolen from a home in the 1600 block of W. 11th St. Multiple fraudulent charges were reported on the card. Police say video was obtained from the Warrensburg Walmart that shows the suspect using the debit card. 30-year-old Carlos E. Staten was questioned at the Pettis County Jail. He claimed that the person that gave him the card was doing him a favor. Staten was returned to the Pettis County Jail and booked with new charges of fraudulent use of a credit device and stealing.


Police were dispatched around 8 a.m. on December 7 to the 200 block of S. Prospect Ave. for a burglary in progress. A caller told police that two people had entered a residence and had taken items from the house without the consent of the owner. 51-year-old Jackie Bryant and 34-year-old Jackie Gresham were located in the area and were arrested for second degree burglary and stealing. Both were transported to the Pettis County Jail.


A 37-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges after a black Chevrolet Camaro with no front plate was stopped on Clarendon Rd. on December 6. Police say the plate on the vehicle was registered to another vehicle. A passenger in the Camaro was found to have an active warrant. Police say a baggie of methamphetamine and a syringe were found on the suspect, John E. Franken. Franken was transported to the Pettis County Jail.


Sedalia Police responded to the AT&T store on W. Broadway on December 5 on a report of forgery in progress. An employee of the store said that the suspect was attempting to buy two phones with false information, which would result in the phones not being fully paid for. The employee said the suspect attempted to steal nearly $2,000 in merchandise. Police say the suspect provided a false name and fake identification card when they made contact. 42-year-old Maurice Harper Sr. was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.
