Sedalia Police Reports 10-24-16

Sedalia Police arrested James C. West, 33, on Friday afternoon after officers responded to an alarm in the 1100 block of W. 4th. An officer observed two small bags of marijuana in the kitchen. West was then issued a summons.

Miguel A. Saragoza, 50, Sedalia, was arrested near Saline and Veterans Memorial Drive on Saturday after an officer observed him and confirmed an active Pettis County warrant for him. He was arrested on a $10,000 bond and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a Nov. 1 court date.

Jesse R. Smith, 49, was arrested for Peace Disturbance after Sedalia Police responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of E. 6th on Saturday afternoon. Smith was transported to the Pettis County Jail, but jail staff refused to take him, due to his high level of intoxication. Smith was released to a sober party pending the filing of state charges, the report said.

David E. Buckner, 54, Sedalia, was arrested at 318 W. Broadway, on Saturday evening for Driving While Intoxicated after a witness approached an officer, saying they had witnessed an intoxicated subject at the gas station, and it looked like there was damage to his vehicle. Buckner was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked for Driving While Intoxicated and released.

Aleksandr Blagonya reported the theft of a firearm from his vehicle while it was parked overnight at his residence in the 1700 block of South Park on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, Joylyyn D. Allard reported the theft of $434.97 worth of property and $150 in damaged items during a buglary in the 1000 block of W. 3rd.

Police took a theft report that occurred from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Monroe Ave., on Sunday. Taken from the unlocked vehicle, which was parked next to the residence overnight, was $440 of property. There are no suspects.

Robert Dean Higgins, 50, Kansas City, Mo., was arrested for Driving While Revoked and Failure to Appear-Misdemeanor, after a traffic stop for no front license plate at 2:35 a.m. Saturday at 6th and Lafayette. Higgins was wanted on two active Platte County warrants with a total bond of $880 cash. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Police took a hit-and-run report at 13th and Ohio on Friday night at 8:27 p.m. involving a vehicle that a witness said traveled south on Ohio, crossed the center line and strike an unoccupied car, then immediately left the scene. There were no injuries reported and the victim's car had minor damage. Police later located a suspect, 45-year-old Wendy Vest, the next day. Vest was arrested on a municipal charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and taken to the Pettis County Jail.

Vest was booked and released with a December court date.

Police responded to a rollover accident that occurred Friday night at 9:33 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Limit (just south of Orscheln Farm and Home entrance). According to the report, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole, then overturned, coming to rest in the right (southbound) lane of Limit. An adult male was transported by PCAD to Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Julie L. Davis, 46, Sedalia, was arrested after a computer check revealed that she was wanted on a Pettis County warrant. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $5,000 bond, cash or surety, with a court date of Nov. 1.

Sara Michelle Williams, 26, Eldon, was arrested after a traffic stop for failure to stop at a stop sign at 25th and Ingram Thursday night around 8:20 p.m. The driver (Williams) had a Municipal warrant and was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $200 cash bond and a Nov. 23 court date.

Amy I. Clark, 38, Sedalia, was arrested for Failure to Appear Upon Arrest or Summons after a warrant check Saturday afternoon. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $90.50 bond and a court date of Nov. 9.

Debbie A. Diaz, 33, Sedalia, was arrested for Failure to Appear Upon Arrest or Summons after a traffic stop at Broadway and Ohio Friday afternoon. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $50 bond and a Nov. 9 court date.

Police took a report of a stolen silver 2009 Toyota Corolla, last seen at 321 E. 2nd Street at 10 a.m. Friday morning.

Police took a theft report involving a laptop taken from a residence in the 900 block of E. 10th Saturday afternoon. The laptop was valued at $1,000.

Police took a shoplifting report at Kohl's, 4300 Wisconsin Ave., on Saturday evening. The complainant said a female selected several items, concealed them, then left the store without paying. The total cost of the items was $92. The suspect has not yet been contacted, the report said.

Broadway Car Wash, 2618 E. Broadway, reported on Sunday that someone has entered the building overnight at damaged the interior, and taken several items.

Police recovered a bike in the 1300 block of E. 10th on Saturday morning. The bicycle was an orange-and-white 24-inch boys Mongoose mountain bike. It was placed in the bike shed.

Police took a theft report at 12:47 a.m. Saturday of a 26-inch, black and pink Mongoose, stolen from behind a residence in the 1700 block of S. Grand. The bike was valued at $130.

And Pettis County Sheriff's deputies recovered a bicycle in the area of Highway M and Goodwill Chapel Road on Saturday.
