On Wednesday (Dec 12), Sedalia Police conducted a vehicle check on an ATV being operated on the roadway in the area of W. 3rd Street and S. Missouri Ave. The operator was identified as 40-year old Virgil LeHarris Taylor. Police say while writing a citation for a traffic offence, Taylor became unruly and police attempted a frisk. Taylor reportedly became more aggressive and was arrested. During a search, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located. Taylor was taken to the Pettis County Jail. The case is being sent to the prosecutor's office for review.


On Tuesday (Dec 11), Sedalia Police made contact with a man in the 800 block of E. Broadway, who was wanted on charges from Benton County. 38-year old Sean William Cunningham was arrested. During a search, Cunningham was reportedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a twenty-four hold, pending drug charges.


On Tuesday (Dec 11), Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of E. Pettis Street and N. Lamine Ave. The driver, 26-year old Ryan M. Weisner, was arrested for a Pettis County probation violation warrant. Weisner was taken to the Pettis County Jail, with a bond of $2,250.00.


Just after midnight Thursday (Dec 13), Sedalia Police were dispatched to the area of E. 7th Street and S. New York Ave for a report of gunshots. Investigation revealed that two parties had exchanged gunfire and one occupant of a vehicle had been injured. The individual was treated for injuries at Bothwell Regional Health Center. The investigation is ongoing and no names were released.
