Around 10:00 in the morning on January 26th, at Wal-Mart, located at 3201 West Broadway, Sedalia Police responded to a theft report. The reporting party stated that a male subject took items from the store shelf and walked out without paying for them. The male suspect was located and issued a court summons for March 9th. The total amount of the items stolen was about $17.00. The items were recovered and returned to the store.

On January 26th, around 9:45 in the morning, at 608 South Ohio, the Ohio Hair Company, officers took a report of property damage. The reporting party stated that someone threw a rock through the glass of the front door. There were no other details listed in that police report. The investigation is ongoing....

On January 24th, around 6:42 in the evening, in the 1400 block of East Broadway, there was a reported theft. The complaintint stared she had left a phone at the residence on January 22nd. She returned a couple days later and discovered the phone to be missing. The phone belonged to her mother. The value of the phone was placed at $384.00. There were no other details listed in the report.

Early in the morning on January 26th, around 1:05, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at Mitchell Avenue and Broadway. Officers made contact with the driver and occupant. Their information was relayed to dispatch and dispatch advised both people had active warrants. The driver, Raymond C. Berry Jr. was arrested for a Pettis County warrant on an original charge of vehicle theft. Bond was set at $5,000.00 cash or surety. The passenger in the vehicle, Kayla L. Benton was arrested for a Pettis County warrant on an original charge of speeding. Her bond was set at $1,000.00 cash or surety.

Around 8:45 in the evening on January 25th, there was another theft reported at Wal-Mart. Upon arrival, police officers arrested two subjects for shoplifting. 40-year old Gary Lee Barnett Jr. and 6-year old Jamie C. Hern were both transported to the Pettis County Jail with bonds set at $533.50, cash or surety.

Last week, on January 23rd, around 2:30 in the afternoon, there was a reported burglary in the 1300 block of East 7th Street. The victim stated that five subjects broke into her home, damaged property, and stole several items. The estimated value of the stolen items is over $800.00. There are 5 suspects in the case.

On January 26th, around 10:43 at night, Sedalia Police officers conducted a subject check at West 9th Street and South Osage Avenue. A check through dispatch, advised that the suspect had two active probation violation warrants, two active Saline County warrants, and a Sedalia failure-to-appear warrant. Arrested at the scene was 25-year old Steven A. Dodson. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail with a bond of $10,545.00, cash only.

On Janaury 25th, around 7:45 in the evening, there was a reported theft at Wal-Mart, located at 3201 West Broadway. The complaintint stated that around 2:15 that afternoon, a suspect had taken a game controller out of its box and left the store without paying for it. The controller is valued at about $50.00. The suspect has been identified and charges are being sent to the prosecuter for review.

Around 4:50 in the afternoon, of January 26th, Asset Protection personell at Wal-Mart reported a theft. Asset Protection said a female subject was observed stealing and leaving the store. When Asset Protection personell made contact with the suspect, she assaulted two of the agents and fled the scene on foot. She was found later at J.C. Penney. Sedalia Police arrested 24-year old Alisha L. Gaines and transported her to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending state charges.
