16-year-old Andrew Meyers died after suffering a gunshot wound on Friday night, according to Sedalia Police.

Sedalia Police received several 911 calls at 10:03 Friday night (July 24) pertaining to a subject that was shot near West Cooper and Missouri.

Sedalia Police responded and found Meyers lying prone, near a car, suffering from a gunshot wound. Sedalia Police applied first aid until the Pettis County Ambulance District arrived to take him to Bothwell Regional Health Center. The hospital examined and tried to treat the injuries, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Sedalia Police conducted an investigation and served a search warrant at a nearby home, where Meyers had been when he was shot. Sedalia Police found numerous narcotic trafficking items, along with numerous illegal firearms.

The Sedalia Police and ATF are investigating the case further, along with other agencies.
