Officers were dispatched on January 10 at approximately 6:30 p.m.to the 1600 block of S. Osage on a complaint that a man had threatened a homeowner. The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Sean S. Burke, who was arrested a few blocks from the incident. Burke was placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges from the state prosecutor's office for fourth degree assault and second degree trespassing.

Sedalia Police were dispatched just after 8 p.m. on January 10 to the 1500 block of E. 5th to investigate a theft. Police received a complaint that a known suspect was stealing power from the utility company. An officer was shown a meter at the back of the residence that was wired to provide power to the residence after the power had been shut off. The utility company was contacted and safely cut off the power to prevent a fire from happening at the residence.

Police were called at 10:15 a.m. to the 1600 block of E. Harvey for a report of theft from a vehicle. A victim told police that he had been gone from home since November 28 to January 6 and when he returned he found that items had been taken from his unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. Police have no suspects.

A 20-year-old Sedalia man was arrested for stealing after police received a complaint of fraudulent use of a bank card. On January 9, a man reported to police that someone had used his bank card to take money from his account without his permission. The suspect, Skyler E. Henderson, was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked on city charges of stealing.
