Sedalia Police reports 1-17-18

Sedalia Police arrested 29-year-old Whitney Lynn Raymond of Sedalia on a Chariton County warrant at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday at 12th and Lamine. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $100 cash bond, with a Jan. 23 court date.


 

Zachary E. Smasal, 29, Sedalia, was arrested at 16th and Kentucky at 9:49 p.m. Tuesday after a traffic stop on a red Ford SUV for no rear plate. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Synthetic Narcotic and Unlawful Possession of a Concealable Weapon.


 

On Monday night just after 10 p.m. Wal-Mart asset protection contacted Sedalia Police reference a suspect who walked out of the store at 3201 W. Broadway at around 8:30 a.m. without paying for a Sega Genesis. Video surveillance footage showed the suspect taking the item off the shelf, then attempting to “return” it. The suspect then walked out the store with the item.


 

On Monday just before 8 p.m., Factory Furniture Outlet, 3200 W. Broadway, reported the theft of about $13,000 of furniture by three suspects who used fraudulent credit cards.


 

On Wednesday at 1:11 a.m., Sedalia Police, Sedalia Fire and PCAD responded to the 3100 block of W. 10th on a subject having difficulty breathing. While the caller was on the phone, the 76-year-old victim stopped breathing. Attempts were made to revive her, but they were unsuccessful in reestablishing a pulse. The body was taken to Heckart Funeral Home.
