Sedalia Post Office will offer a "Passport Fair" on July 22 to help travelers prepare for international trips.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Many families are now making plans for summer trips. If those plans involve travel abroad, this is the perfect opportunity to get that necessary Passport", said Postmaster Beth Grother in a press release.

Applicants must provide and Application for Passport Form DS-11. The form can be downloaded from the USPS website, www.usps.com/passport. The form will also be available at the passport fair.

"Passport applications must apply in person so many customers, especially families with children, appreciate the convenience of Saturday hours," says Grother. "With just one visit to the Post Office, the passport application process can be completed."

Applicants, including infants, must present a proof of U.S. citizenship: a previous U.S. passport or certified birth certificate issued by a city, county or state, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a Certification of Birth, a Naturalization Certificate, or a Certificate of Citizenship. A picture ID is also required. For more information go online at travel.state.gov/passport.

Postmaster Grother recommends visiting the Post Office as early as possible to apply for a passport - at least two months or earlier before departure - to avoid any extra costs involved in expediting applications.

U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information by phone by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-(877)-487-2778.
