Here's a look at some of the happenings and events going on in our area this weekend. What are you going to do?

The Epworth United Methodist Church will have a Chili and Soup Supper on December 1.

It’ll be held from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the church, on Broadway and Engineer.  They’ll have baked goods and gift items.  You get chili or soup, dessert and a drink for a cost of $5.

The Annual Cookie Walk for Melita Day Nursery will take place Saturday.

It’ll be held from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the State Fair Community Collegein the Parkhurst Commons.  They will have a variety of different cookies, and the cost is $9 a pound.

The Broadway Presbyterian Church Deacons will have a Pancakes and Sausage Breakfast.It’ll be held on Saturday, December 1 from 7:00 a.m. to noon at the church, 209 West Broadway.  The ticket donation is $4 for adults, under 12 are $2, and two years of age and under eat for free.

Come join us for the 46th Annual Hughesville Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1.

The parade will line up at 1:00 p.m at Summit Street and many will watch at Main and Summit. The parade begins at 2:00 p.m.  A donation lunch of chili, hotdogs, drinks and dessert will be served from 11:00 a.m. until after the parade.  Santa will be at the Community Building to visit with children after the parade.  Linda Hoover will be on hand to do hair painting with chalk and face painting.  Dorothy the Clown will be there with balloon art.  The Santa Store will be open for kids to purchase $1 gifts for their parents, siblings or other relatives and friends.  If you know someone who would like to enter the parade or would like to enter yourself or your group (Marching units, floats, vehicles, horses/animals), call Norma Thomas  at 826-3531.

The Sedalia Hometown Christmas Parade begins Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

Annual Christmas Parade hosted by the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce. The parade traditionally has over 100 entries and lasts for about two hours.  The parade runs the length of Ohio Street in Downtown Sedalia.

The next Shrine Breakfast will take place on December 1.

It’s open to the public and will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at 1375 Elm Hills.  For to go orders call 826-6171

There will be a Chili Cook Off coming up on December 1 in the FEMA Building in Sedalia.

It’ll be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and it’s a cost of $7.  The Cook Off participants include local luminaries like Bob Satnan, John Dick, Grant Maledy, Steve Broadbent, Jeff Tilley, and Brad Pollitt, among others.

The Punchline Players, a newly formed Theatre Arts improvisational comedy troupe at State Fair Community College, will present improv comedy shows at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Thompson O’Sullivan Studio Theatre on the Sedalia campus.

The shows are free. No tickets are needed.  The six-member group will perform in the comedy style of the television show, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” The players perform short scenes, usually based on a game, structure, or idea, including audience suggestions. Members include Heather Hill, Versailles; Sarah Hill, Versailles; Devin Ersery, Kansas City; Shawn Cahail, Camdenton; Alex Wilson, Warsaw; and James Sheppard Knob Noster. A Theatre Arts alum will serve as mystery host each evening. The Flatliners improv troupe from Missouri Valley College also will perform. The shows are for mature audiences only.

There will be a Holiday Homes tour in the Warsaw area to see different Christmas decorations.

It’ll be held on Sunday, December 2 from 2:00-5:00 in the Warsaw area.  They’ll meet at Hawthorn Bank, North Town Center.  There will be refreshments, a silent auction, and a map of the homes to be toured.  Advance tickets are $10 each, and $12 at the door.  Tickets are available at Hawthorn Bank, 1st Community Bank, Maples Ford, Warsaw Senior Center, Reece & Nichols Golden Key Realty, UMB Bank, Farmers Bank, Advantage Real Estate, Missouri Lakes Realty, and Remax of Warsaw.  Proceeds will benefit Harbor Village

The Christmas in the Park Lighting Display is opening in Windsor.
 * The annual Christmas In The Park will open on Saturday, November 24, 2012 and run on weekends only through Saturday, December 9,  2012 from     5:30pm – 9:00pm.
   * Starting Monday, December 10, 2012 through Friday, December 28, 2012 it will be open nightly from  5:30pm -9:00pm.
