The Community of Christ Church on 2000 South Ingram, will have a Ground Hog dinner.

It’ll be held on February 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and then again from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. They’ll have ground hog, biscuits, potatoes, gravy, green beans, salads, dessert and a drink.  Cost for an adult is $7, children are $3.50 and under 5 eat for free.

Smokers interested in kicking their habit in 2013 can find the tools they need to be successful through Bothwell Regional Health Center’s “Freedom from Smoking” class.

The class, which follows American Lung Association curriculum, is an eight-session behavior modification program. The class will begin on Jan. 28, and meets weekly from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday evenings for seven weeks in the Bothwell Education Center, 14th and Ingram. The New Hope Baptist Church Youth Group will be holding a fundraising auction in conjunction with their spaghetti supper on April 6. 

All of the funds raised from this event will be used to support the Youth Group’s mission trip in July of 2013.  They’ll be going to West Virginia to help a small church reach their community and go to Washington DC to learn about their heritage of faith.  They are in the process of collecting merchandise for the auction, and if you’d like to donate you m ay contact Duane Duchesne at 660-826-6277 or email dnlduchesne@sbcglobal.net

The Pettis County NAACP and the Burns Chapel FWB Church present “Don’t Let the Past Block Our Future”. 

It’ll be held on Sunday, February 3 at 3:00 p.m. at the Burns Chapel FWB Church Main Sanctuary.  They’ll be celebrating Black History, American History, Your History and Our History.  For more information, contact 826-8614

The Cabin Fever Sports Show will return to the Matthewson on February 2 and 3. 

There will be displays about hunting, firearms, crafts, fishing, boating, safe child identification, camping, and home decor as well as a 3D Pop Up Archery Shoot Tournament.  Guest outdoor enthusiast and actor Marshall Teague will be making an appearance.  It'll take place at the Matthewson beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and continue until 8:00 p.m., then resume on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is three dollars for an adult, and twelve years of age and younger get in for free.  Bring a canned good and get a dollar off your admission cost.
